Car key duplication: what to check before booking
What details we need, when cloning is possible, and why make/model/year matters.
Before booking a spare car key, gather the vehicle make, model, year, key type and whether you still have one working key. These details determine whether cutting, cloning or programming is the right path.
One working key vs all keys lost
Adding a spare key is usually simpler than an all-keys-lost job. If all keys are lost, the vehicle may require security access, proof of ownership and a manual check before any appointment is confirmed.
Why model year matters
The same model name can use different immobilizer systems across years and markets. That is why we ask for make, model, year and sometimes VIN/chassis number.
